I'm not certain since I know of some pretty good ones lately the latest anime have been really stinking bad!
I do know what my favourites are lain,ghost hound and ghost in the shell and of course we all cant forget cowboy bebop. Dragon ball and Dragon ball z were the shizznizz's up till the two other newer series came out,so I definitly can't say dragon ball as a series but the very first dragon ball was pretty good!
